“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

The Second Amendment is the strongest argument against gun control. Anti-gun control supporters believe that it says that all American citizens have the right to own a gun. Gun control supporters think otherwise. They believe that it only gives the militia the right to bear arms. When the Second Amendment was created, the government could not afford a full time army, so all citizens were considered to be part of the militia and were expected to defend their country when needed.
